Winter is a time when most produce is not in season or in limited supply, so those strawberries and grapes your family loves are double the price. Well, have you considered grapefruit? Grapefruit is in season. Use this super simple recipe to get more of this fruit into your winter meal plan.
Grapefruits are a larger cousin to oranges. Both of these citrus fruits are high in Vitamin C which helps strengthen the immune system. A strong immune system can help your body ward off illness like the flu and colds. Grapefruit is also packed with antioxidants. In fact, pink or red grapefruit in particular contains the antioxidant lycopene which is shown to reduce the risk of prostate cancer. So ladies, get your hubbies to eat some grapefruit! The flavor is tart and tangy, but this recipe brings out its underlying sweetness!
